Teachers

Director:  Kim Shivak
    Kim Shivak  has danced since the age of 5, and was an assistant teacher throughout high school.  She managed the studio for 9 years, before opening her own studio in 1989.  Her studio, A Step In Time, has been at it's current location for 16 years.  Her students perform in 2 annual dance recitals, as well as at senior centers, parades, and numerous community events.  Kim regularly attends many dance workshops and teaching seminars. 
Co Director:  Brandi Shivak
     Brandi Shivak, daughter of the studio director, has been dancing since the age of 2, and competing since the age of 7.   She has performed annually in the 6/ABC Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade. She is the mother of 2 daughters, Chloe, age 8, and Gianna, age 2, who also dance.  Brandi has attended many competitions and dance workshops, and started assistant teaching at the age of 16.  She began teaching and choreographing full time at the age of 19.  Though she teaches and choreographs various genres of dance, her passion is hip hop.  She has taught and choreographed many hip hop routines, winning numerous high score, entertainment, & choreography awards as well as cash prizes and regional high score scholarships.   Brandi has also coached an All Star dance team which has also won many high scores and cash prizes. 
Co Director:  Lyndi Shivak Skone
  Lyndi Shivak Skone began dancing 22 years ago at A Step In Time Dance Studio.  She has performed in dance recitals for as long as she has danced, and began competing in competitions at the age of 5.  Lyndi has danced in the 6/ABC Thanksgiving Day Parade for 6 years.  She has had extensive learning experience from numerous choreographers at dance workshops. Lyndi has received the titles of Young Miss Broadway at the age of 11, and Junior Miss Broadway at the age of 13. She was chosen and performed with a dance tour known as Powerpak and has also danced in the Citrus Bowl Halftime Extravaganza, as well as the NFL Probowl Halftime Performance.  From the ages of 16 - 18 Lyndi was a member of an All Star dance team.  At the age of 17, she auditioned for and was chosen to dance aboard Royal Caribbean  Cruise Ships.  Lyndi has performed at the CEC Center in Philadelphia.  She is a graduate of Temple University with a bachelor's degree in dance.   Most recently, Lyndi became a member of coEXIST Dance Company in Philadelphia.  In her future, she wishes to exceed her hopes and dreams of becoming a dance therapist.  Dance is Lyndi's passion, her love, and her life.  She hopes to share all of that with others around her.
